Day 1: Arrival in Paro – Transfer to Thimphu

  • Arrive at Paro International Airport and drive approximately 1.5 hours to Bhutan’s capital, Thimphu. Settle into your hotel and enjoy a leisurely afternoon visiting local spots such as the Centenary Farmers’ Market or craft shops. Overnight in Thimphu. 

Day 2: Explore Thimphu

  • Buddha Dordenma Statue: A massive golden Buddha overlooking the valley. 
  • Memorial Chorten: A vibrant religious monument. 
  • Tashichho Dzong: The seat of the Bhutanese government and a stunning fortress. 
  •  Optional: Visit local art schools or the Textile Museum. 
  • Enjoy a traditional Bhutanese dinner and overnight in Thimphu. 

Day 3: Thimphu to Gasa (overnight)

  • Early morning drive to Gasa, a pristine district known for its natural hot springs and stunning mountainous landscapes. En route, pass through scenic valleys and small villages. Relax in the natural hot springs (if time permits) upon arrival. Overnight in Gasa. 

Day 4: Gasa to Laya – Arrival at the Royal Highland Festival

  • Journey to Laya, one of Bhutan’s most remote and high-altitude villages. Arrive in time to witness the vibrant Royal Highland Festival — a unique cultural event featuring traditional dances, horse riding competitions, archery, and local festivities. Overnight in Laya. 

Day 5: Full Day at the Royal Highland Festival in Laya

  • Spend the entire day immersed in the festival’s celebrations. Experience authentic local customs, mingle with the Layap people in traditional attire, and enjoy the breathtaking Himalayan backdrop. Capture unforgettable moments and soak in the peaceful mountain atmosphere. Overnight in Laya. 

Day 6: Laya to Gasa (overnight)

  • Return to Gasa for a restful evening. You may revisit the hot springs or explore the serene natural surroundings. Overnight in Gasa. 

Day 7: Gasa to Punakha

  • Travel from Gasa to Punakha, crossing through beautiful mountain passes and valleys. Upon arrival, visit Punakha Dzong, one of Bhutan’s most majestic fortresses, at the confluence of two rivers. Explore the charming Punakha town and its lush valley surroundings. Overnight in Punakha. 

Day 8: Punakha to Paro

  • Drive to Paro Valley and enjoy scenic views along the way. Visit the impressive Rinpung Dzong in Paro, a fortress-monastery with rich history and stunning architecture. Explore Paro town, its shops, and cafes. Overnight in Paro. 

Day 9: Tiger’s Nest Monastery (Taktsang)

  • Hike (about 4-5 hours round trip) to the iconic Tiger’s Nest Monastery, perched dramatically on a cliffside. This sacred site offers breathtaking views and deep spiritual significance. Return to Paro for a relaxing evening and overnight stay. 

Day 10: Departure from Paro

  • Transfer to Paro International Airport for your flight onward.
